Bigfoot Diet and Hunting Behaviors
What does a Bigfoot eat and how does he hunt? These are frequently asked questions that I get a lot and would like to shed light on. Bigfoot is believed to be an omnivore and is an opportunistic eater like some other scavengers in the forest like the coyote or bear. The diet of Bigfoot is closely related to and most consistent with that of bears. We know that berries and fruits are plentiful in Bigfoot hot spots and that they will consistently gather and eat these fruits on a daily basis. They know every edible plant and root available and where to find them. But to sustain Bigfoot's large size and mass it makes sense that it needs more calorie dense food sources other than fruits and berries.
It is well known in the Bigfoot community that deer is another staple and important food source that is believed to be their main calorie and protein food source. This meat source provides the needed calories, fat, and needed nutrients to support this beastly creature. There have been credible reports and sightings from hunters and hikers alike that have physically seen Bigfoot chasing a deer down, as well as watching them drag and carry a deer carcass on their shoulders. Other food items on Bigfoots menu range from hogs, raccoons, rodents, poultry, and fish. It is interesting to note that Bigfoot hasn't been known to use fire to cook his food which means he probably is susceptible to worms and parasites. But like his primate relatives, he has evolved and is equipped with a heightened and robust immune system. This helps him digest and flush any sort of parasite it may encounter.
Bigfoot stealth is also a huge factor in capturing their prey items. They blend into their environment better than the Predator in the original movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger. Even with their undeniable smell, which may tip off a prey item that they are near, it doesn't tip the scale by inhibiting them from dominating the hunt. The stealth of Bigfoot is its undeniable strength and is what brings it the large game like deer and elk.
The most anticipated question of the day I'm sure everyone is dying to know. Is human on the menu? For the most part Bigfoot is shy, solitary, and prefers to be alone. There could be exceptions to the rule which would include mental illness, a rabid or mean Sasquatch could snuff out a human very easily. But for the most part Bigfoot is smart and cunning and knows the pros and cons of eating human and equates us with trouble. If he eats a human then other humans will come looking for him with guns and dogs and Bigfoot doesn't want the drama. For this reason alone I don't think human is on the Sasquatch menu.
Bigfoot has plenty of options for getting food, and most involve staying as far away as possible from humans. But that doesn't mean we should let our guard down when hiking or camping in Sasquatch country. Remember my friends, stay safe on the back woods trails, bring your Bigfoot deterrent, keep your head on a swivel when hiking through Bigfoot country. Most importantly, stay calm and squatch on my friends.
